William Daniel "Dan" Church1,2

ID#481, b. 12 July 1902, d. October 1977
Father: Anderson "Anner" Church
Mother: Rhoda Gump

Birth date: 12 July 1902.3 It has also been reported that William was born on 12 July 1904. However, I believe the year was misreported on his marriage record. In support, if 1902 is correct rather than 1904, then his age of 17 reflected in the 1920 census would be accurate.1,4
Birth place: Coburn, Wetzel County, West Virginia.1

William married Vernice Myrl Stoneking on 11 November 1940 at Uniontown, Wetzel County, West Virginia. Rev. Esker Groves, a Minister of the Gospel, certified that he united them in marriage.1

Dan was listed as the informant on the death certificate of his father, Anderson Church, dated 27 December 1952.5,6 He died at age 75 in October 1977.7

Noah Roberts1

ID#486, d. 1842
Carrie (Roberts) Richmond wrote a family history that included details about her grandfather, Noah Roberts.1 The following is an excerpt:

"About the year of 1820 there were four Roberts brothers who came from Morristown, PA over into Wetzel County, (West) Virginia. They were emmigrants from England. Their names were: Noah, John, Stephen and Bob."

A word of caution ... as I have not yet used independent sources to verify the info in the box above, I cannot vouch for its accuracy.

Margaret Jones1

ID#487, b. 10 October 1807, d. 29 April 1886
Carrie (Roberts) Richmond wrote a family history that included details about her grandmother, Margaret Jones.2 The following is an excerpt:

"She was born in Ireland, and came to the United States when she was four years old. Margaret had two brothers and one sister. Her father died on board the ship and was buried in the Atlantic Ocean. After the mother came to the United States, she soon discovered that she could not support her family, so they went away and found another home. Enoch Enix took Margaret Jones and raised her near Morristown, PA, and he also raised her brother David. Her sister was raised at Pittsburgh, PA, and her other brother, Uriah, was raised in Iowa. Enix was captured by Indians."

A word of caution ... as I have not yet used independent sources to verify the info in the box above, I cannot vouch for its accuracy. However, based on information found on Find A Grave that agrees that she was born in Ireland and includes a photo of her gravestone showing her date of birth, the following is what I believe at this time is her birth info:

Father: not yet identified
Mother: not yet identified

Birth date: 10 October 1807
Birth place: Ireland.3

Margaret married Noah Roberts.2

At age 78, Margaret died on 29 April 1886.3 Interred in the Thomas Chapel Cemetery, Wetzel County, West Virginia, her name appears on the gravestone as "Margaret Roberts." An additional inscription reads, "Wife of Noah Roberts."3

Sarah E. Riggs1,2

ID#488, b. about 1872
Father: James Riggs
Mother: Rebecca Starcher3

Birth date: about 1872.
Based on West Virginia's records of her first marriage, Sarah was reported to be 16 when she married in 1888,3 and 58 when she married the second time in 1927.1 One of the two ages had to be wrong:
An age of 16 in 1888 = a birth year circa 1872. She would have been 55 in 1927.
Conversely, an age of 58 in 1927 = a birth year circa 1869; making her only 13 in 1888.
Based on Sarah's' reported age of 8 in the 1880 federal census, she would have been born circa 1872. Add eight years to 1880 - and the year is 1888 and Sarah is 16 for her first marriage.

Birth place: Calhoun County, West Virginia.3

Sarah's first marriage was to James R. Roberts, son of Alexander H. "Alec" Roberts and Lavina Ellen Ensminger, on 6 February 1888 in Calhoun County, West Virginia.3 Sarah became a widow upon James's death, estimated to be before 1927 as Sarah's second marriage was on 30 March 1927.1

Her second marriage to Noah Grant Church, son of William S. "Bill" Church and Elizabeth Jane "Betsy" Roberts, took place in Calhoun County, West Virginia.4,1

Esther Dora "Essie" Wallace1

ID#503, b. 3 February 1876, d. 23 June 1926
Father: George Wallace
Mother: Mary Roberts

Birth date: 3 February 1876
Birth place: Wetzel County, West Virginia.2,3

Her first name has been found misspelled as Ester in various records.2

Esther married David Reason Kerby, son of John Wesley Kerby and Ruhamah Stallman, on 13 February 1898 in Calhoun County, West Virginia.3

At age 50, Esther died from tubercular peritonitis on 23 June 1926 in Lee District, Calhoun County, West Virginia.2 She was interred in the Husk Cemetery, Lee District, Calhoun County, West Virginia; Although the death certificate actually gives June 5 as the day of burial, the 25th makes more sense as that would be two days after Essie's death, a typical length of time. My theory is that the "2" was simply omitted in error.2
