Florence Esta Smith1,2

ID#2491, b. about 1889, d. 24 June 1965
Father: Samuel Smith.2
Mother: Elizabeth Lawson.2

Birth date: about 1889.3 It has also been reported that Florence was born about 1884.4
Birth place: Wirt County, West Virginia.3 Her first marriage record indicated she was born in Roane County, but since the minister was the informant, that seems less likely to be accurate.4

Florence's first marriage was to Mont Long on 3 August 1906 in Roane County, West Virginia. M. L. Sovil certified that he united them in marriage at the residence of Salatiel Starcher. Apparently the marriage ended in divorce as each of them is listed as "divorced" on the records of subsequent marriages.5,4

Mont and Florence were divorced after a short marriage; she is listed as divorced on the license for her second marriage in 1914.3

Her second marriage was to Asa Haney, son of J. Haney, on 3 May 1914 in Calhoun County, West Virginia. S. S. Stout certified that he united them in marriage at Little Creek Church.3

Florence died from cardiac failure and generalized carcinoma on 24 June 1965 in Calhoun County, West Virginia. The informant, Sylvia Headley, was her daughter.2
